The most popular engage supports in the current meta of League of Legends are Leona, Alistar, Sett, Nautilus, and Rakan.

This week, Alistar has been in the spotlight following a stellar performance by Shi “Ming” Sen-Ming, the support player for Royal Never Give Up (RNG). In the first game of RNG’s match against JD Gaming in Week 7 of the LPL, Ming showcased his exceptional skills with Alistar.

Despite facing tough losses to Top Esports and Suning in Week 4 of the 2021 LPL Summer Split, RNG has managed to bounce back with an impressive six-match winning streak.

In the first game against JD Gaming, RNG drafted a team composition consisting of two frontline champions:
Galio in the mid lane and Alistar as the support in the bottom lane.

As the frontline for his team, these runes were chosen in the primary Resolve tree:

1.Aftershock (keystone rune)
2.Front of Life
3.Bone Plating
4.Unflinching

And these secondary runes in the Inspiration tree:

1.Cosmic Insight
2.Hextech Flashtraption

Aftershock in the Resolve tree is widely considered the best keystone rune for Alistar, as he excels at immobilizing enemies.
Similarly, Font of Life complements his crowd control abilities perfectly
providing healing for both Alistar and his ally when they auto attack marked enemies.

In the recent match against JD Gaming,Alistar chose Bone Plating to reduce the overall damage incoming from burst damage champions like
Kha’Zix and Twisted Fate that were on the opposing team.

Unflinching was the preferred choice for
Alistar since four out of five champions in the game, including Gwen, Kha’Zix, Twisted Fate, and Leona, were capable of slowing him down.

The added tenacity provided by Unflinching helped Alistar navigate through crowd control effects more effectively.
Additionally, Alistar opted for Hextech in the Inspiration tree, as it allowed him to engage even when his Flash was on cooldown.

The strategy involved hiding in an unwarded bush, then using Hextech Flash to surprise unsuspecting enemies with his Pulverize ability.

Cosmic Insight was chosen to increase the cooldown reduction on summoner spells and items.
This allowed Alistar to have Flash up more frequently, giving him more opportunities to engage in fights.

Alistar Item Build Used by RNG Ming:

RNG Ming, the support player for Royal Never Give Up, has opted for a specific item build for Alistar in his recent games.
Starting at level one, Ming purchased Relic Shield, which is considered the best support item for melee supports in the bot lane.

Ming’s next priority was to rush Ionian Boots of Lucidity. These boots provide a bonus of 20 Ability Haste, making them a popular choice among supports in the current meta.
Despite costing 950 gold, the value of 20 Ability Haste is considered quite high.

This item greatly enhances Alistar‘s ability to engage with the enemy team.
Additionally, Ming has chosen Shurelya’s Battlesong as his Mythic item for Alistar.

This item not only provides benefits to Ming’s champion but also helps
Royal Never Give Up reposition against a Sivir who can enhance her allies’ movement speed with her ultimate ability.

As for Ming’s fourth item choice, he has gone for Anathema’s Chains.
This item was introduced to League of Legends in June 2020 with patch 11.13. Anathema’s Chains is a targeted item that decreases the tenacity of a marked “nemesis.”

By using this item, Ming can increase his crowd control effectiveness on the targeted enemy, further enhancing Alistar‘s control in team fights.

Alistar item build by RNG Ming in this game against JD Gaming:

In the later stages of the game, Royal Never Give Up found themselves with a 4,000 gold lead over JD Gaming.
Seizing the opportunity, they began the Baron Nashor at the 31-minute mark.

While the rest of his team focused on taking down the Baron, Ming, the support player for Royal Never Give Up, made a bold move.
With impeccable timing, he flashed in and executed a devastating combo using Alistar‘s Pulverize and Headbutt abilities.

This caught two crucial members of JD Gaming off guard, leaving them vulnerable.
Taking advantage of this, Cryin, playing Galio, swiftly joined the fight and unleashed a flurry of knock-ups on the stunned enemies.

Simultaneously, Ming activated Alistar‘s Trample ability and his ultimate, Unbreakable Will, which significantly reduced the damage taken.
Despite being left with only a sliver of health, Ming’s brave engage proved to be the turning point in the game, securing victory for Royal Never Give Up in the first match.

Building on their momentum, Royal Never Give Up went on to win the theid game as well, emerging victorious with a 2-1 score against JD Gaming.
